Fantasy Impact: The New York Rangers have traded defenseman Michal Rozsival to the Phoenix Coyotes for Wojtek Wolski.

The Rangers get: a streaky, and currently disappointing potential star in Wolski. He replaces the recently injured Alexander Frolov, a...streaky and currently disappointing potential star.

The Coyotes get: a 30-point defenseman who brings veteran experience to the blue line.

Fantasy Players Impacted: Oliver Ekman-Larsson or David Schlemko will be sent down. Schlemko has been the one who has been scratched of late. But this doesn't help OEL's ice time any. Another three-named player - Mat Zuccarello-Aasen - is back to being potentially sent back to the AHL when the likes of Ryan Callahan and Vinny Prospal return to action. Wolski, who was getting seven or eight minutes of ice time, will see new life in New York. His points will be impressive and it will be immediate. For about a month. Then the hot/cold Wolski we know and love will appear. But in the meantime, enjoy the productivity. I am confident that it will be prolific.

Meanwhile, a playoff team like the Coyotes wouldn't even think of trading away a veteran like Ed Jovanovski during his contract year. But now they can. Jovo will give them good return in a deal and they can now save money and move him. And Michael Del Zotto (does that count as another three name?), whom the Rangers recently demoted, stands a decent chance of being called back up.

Players this helps, in order:

1. Wolski

2. Mikkel Boedker

3. Del Zotto

Players this hurts, in order:

1. Ekman-Larsson

2. Zuccarello-Aasen

Special thanks to the Coyotes and Rangers for announcing this deal right after I complete my THN article on why Wolski is doing terrible this year in Phoenix. Nice.

What's the matter with Slats? Look over the rosters of the contending NHL teams. How many enigmas do you find? Sather goes out of the way to pick up:
- Redden
- Prospal
- Gaborik
- Frolov
- Wolski

Hey Slats, when these guys were with contenders and teams on the rise, they got pushed out the door. Some of them have had to take bargain basement contracts. Why's that?

... Wolski had little value to PHX as things currently stood, so Donny Maloney got something with market value in Rozi. Sather gets the problem child and Torts gets to ride the kid to bring his A game or a permanent seat in the pressbox

PHX moves So do we see anyone coming up from the farm, like Prucha or Tikhonov, to fill the space left by Wolski or do they have enough bodies already?

Sather does it again! Not sure how he convinced Maloney to take Rozsival and his fat contract for Wolski. With Jovo,Aucoin,Morris- its not like they need another veteran- not to mention Yandle their #1 dman. The fact Roszival isnt cheap- and they gave up a young player with some upside....leaves me scratching my head.Unless this is step #1 in moving one of those veterans????

... If Jovo does get moved, it should help him considerably I'd imagine.

Phoenix Power Play Wolski was getting a little bit of time with the man advantage. I wonder if this opens some space to let Pyatt or Korpikoski get some time on the power play. Might be a small bump for one of them if that happens.
