As you may have read in the Ramblings, we have a team in our Pro Tier (in the DobberHockey Invitational) that is in dead last. As can sometimes happen when love fantasy hockey so much that you get into far too many leagues, life catches up with you and some of your fantasy squads suffer as a result. This is one of those situations. I have nine volunteers to take the reins of this squad and try and turn it around. If the person who takes the team over, gets it into the Top 5, that person will immediately become a part of DobberHockey lore. A legend, if you will. If the person can somehow win the league - then to me that's instant DobberHockey Hall-of-Fame Induction. No waiting period, no voting, no hurdles - just straight into the HoF for the pure awesomeness of it.
To decide who gets to run the team, I came up with a little contest. Now, I understand that the shorter the time frame, the greater that luck comes into play. But, it's a fun and fair little excercise.
I asked the contestants to give me two wingers, two centers and two defensemen for a short rotisserie competition. Tonight (Tuesday), Wednesday and Thursday games only. The categories? Goals, Assists, Plus/Minus, PIM and Shots on Goal. In the event of a tie, a second competition will be held for games played on Friday and Saturday.
One from each position was the same on all nine entries: Sidney Crosby (C), Corey Perry (W) and Dustin Byfuglien (D). So I will remove those players from each entry and we are left with three players on each team. Here they are:
Greg Dickie (gmoney): Ryane Clowe, Eric Staal, Kris Letang
Mike Kingwell (itzjules): Ryane Clowe, Jeff Carter, Matt Carle
David Cushard (Dyv): Rick Nash, Ryan Getzlaf, Kris Letang
Lee Scott (SOLO): Ryane Clowe, Ryan Getzlaf, Kris Letang
Victor Trudel (econ7369): Andrew Ladd, Ryan Getzlaf, Kris Letang
Calvin Nystrom (calvinny): Dany Heatley, Ryan Getzlaf, Kris Letang
Andreas Kitsinelis (BC Oiler): Milan Lucic, Eric Staal, Keith Yandle
Dave Romaine (sixhands): Scott Hartnell, Ryan Getzlaf, Zdeno Chara
Jordan Groves (Kickerz): Bobby Ryan, Daniel Briere, Zdeno Chara

... Thanks. I did not expect to win this thing after not getting any production out of Lucic. Guess he got me a couple PIM's though. I'm looking forward to seeing my team and trying to work them up the standings. |

... Congratulations and good luck B-coiler (let the trash talking begin). You might be in last, but I think you are ahead of me in almost every offensive category, and you have Anderson sitting on your bench, so it shouldn't take much to see you shooting up the standings. Mabus |

... just thought I would add a few names off the board: D Rozsival, Lydman/W Callahan, Little/C Dubinsky, Couture. really wanted to give this a shot but I play in points leagues and my roto knowledge is a bit shy. it's definitely different. |
