Fantasy Impact: The Penguins have signed Mike Duff (er... I mean Comrie) to a one-year contract worth the league minimum ($500,000).
The Penguins Get: a once-promising prospect who has never really taken the next step throughout his NHL career. Comrie has great puck skills and a good shot, but he isn't big, fast, or consistent. He can ,play wing and center, so expect him to bounce around the lineup depending on how he is playing. Fantasy Players Impacted: With the rumors that Jordan Staal is going to move up to the second line, Comrie could center a third scoring unit with the likes of Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy.
Apparently Sidney Crosby called Comrie and let him know he'd love to have him on his wing. Comrie is a big time sleeper - he could step up and score 30 goals with Crosby as his center, or he could struggle to stick on the roster and score 10-12 goals in a depth role.
Lots of options in Pittsburgh... my lines:
Kunitz-Crosby-Tangradi Staal-Malkin-Cooke Asham-Comrie-Kennedy Dupuis-Talbot-Adams Rupp Comrie will see a lot of power play time, so he still could be a valuable fantasy contributor from a third line role.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order: 1. Comrie 2. Kennedy 3. Asham
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order: 1. Dustin Jeffrey 2. Mark Letestu 3. Pascal Dupuis

re:cookie A much younger Cooke had a stint on the Nucks topline with Morrison/Naslund(or was it Morrison/Bertuzzi?) and did nothing spectacular. He is good in the corners, but not great speed and terrible hands. Still-playing with that kind of talent 20 goals isnt out of the question, hell Malkin could bounce 10 in off Cookes head (Matt probably wouldnt even notice, he hasnt used his brain in years!) |

Center I see you have malkin as the center of the second line... I was wondering why that was... I think staal is more suited for the center role as malkin sucks at face offs and when he came inot the league was a winger... I was just wondering why you choose malkin over staal as I thought staal was a better center |

... Comrie can be a great powerplay addition for Pittsburgh, however why he keeps moving from city to city is his defensive game/vision is weak and I don't see him helping them in the playoffs as a role player on the bottom 6. Good Luck Pens. |

Duff extra cold? Any idea how this will affect my boy Tangradi and his chances of sticking on a top line this season? Which wing does Comrie tend to play? |

... We could be talking about two different Comrie's too. Mono-Mike had cement skates all of last season that's for sure. |
