My only two-time clown, Ted Saskin, was fired yesterday. How will he ever be able to sleep at night? Oh yeah - on a large pile of money with many beautiful women.
Oleg Saprykin scored his first goal of the postseason. Patrick Eaves did not dress.
Val D'Or lost in the QMJHL final and so will not be moving on to the Memorial Cup. As a result, Kris Letang was reassigned to Wilkes-Barre Scranton to help their playoff run. Letang finished second in QMJHL postseason scoring - not bad for a rearguard.
Sammi Pahlsson has seven points in the postseason so far. Not bad for a checker - there's always one checker that seems to go nutty in the playoffs. This year, it's Pahlsson.
Todd Marchant will make his postseason debut tonight.
Alexei Ponikarovsky signed a three-year deal yesterday. Now, if only the Leafs could sign Nik Antropov...they would be a great as they were last year! Wait a minute...they sucked last year. Why do the Leafs want status quo so badly? Blow this team up and build it right! On the the other hand, with all that money tied up in McCabe, Kaberle and Kubina...they can't really build it right anyway.
The NHL is down to their final four, and so is the IIHF. Thanks to their 5-1 win over Switzerland on Thursday, Canada will move onto the semi-finals to play Sweden. Finland topped USA 5-4 in a shootout, so they will face off against Russia. Both games will be held on Saturday. Finland and Russia will be at 7am EST, while Canada and Sweden will play at 11am EST.
