Fantasy Impact: Carolina has signed defenseman Joe Corvo to a tw-year deal worth $4.5 million.
The Hurricanes get: a streaky offensive defenseman who at times had us fantasy owners fooled into thinking he could get 50 points. Well we'll be fooled no longer! He may have a couple of five- or six-point weeks to tease us, but nothing extensive that makes him a full-time fantasy asset.
Fantasy Players Impacted: Corvo should be good for 35 points and that may not be the case were he to sign with any other team. With Jamie McBain now a full-time member and Anton Babchuk back in the fold, Corvo will be fighting for power-play time. His arrival will cripple the odds that Bobby Sanguinetti makes the roster full time this season. Ditto for Bryan Rodney, who at 26 is running out of time to make his mark.
