Updates from the three DobberHockey pools - the Experts, and the two Pro conferences (Campbell and Wales).
Experts
Last month’s leader in the Dobber Experts League, The Silver Hammers, managed to hold on to the lead. With a big 11 point month, Experts Audit moved from sixth place all the way to second. The competition doesn’t get any easier with Angus Unleashed lurking in third place.
The biggest point gainer of the month was the Grizzlies (+14.5), followed by The Comish, who gained 11.5 points and finally moved out of his parent’s basement. The two guys tied for second place a month ago logged the two biggest drops of the month, falling eight points (Youth Injection) and 9.5 points (Doulos-Hockey Robot) to fourth and fifth place respectively.
Some of the better free agent acquisitions during December were: Stephen Weiss (The Comish), Patric Hornqvist (Angus Unleashed), Mark Recchi (Youth Injection), Dan Sexton (Legion of Dobber), Matt Stajan (Lanky522) and Chris Stewart (Maaaasquito Bites). The pick up of Jimmy Howard by the Expert’s Audit was particularly smart, especially considering that he already owned Chris Osgood.
There were three trades in December, including a blockbuster that went down on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor:
Dec. 7
To Youth Injection: L-Morrow Dal, L/R-Lupul Ana, C-Vermette Clb, G-Fleury Pit, G-Anderson Col
To Lanky522: L-Ovechkin Wsh, C-Backstrom Wsh, D-Schneider,M Van, G-Backstrom Min, G-Khabibulin Edm
Dec. 14
To Legion of Dobber: R-Boyes Stl To Grizzlies: G-Theodore Wsh
Dec. 24
To The Comish: D-Spacek Mtl To Experts Audit: D-Rivet Buf
Pro – Wales Conference
There were no changes in the first six positions from November to December, although Woodbridge Wild did manage to advance their lead by three from 4.5 to 7.5 points. The biggest gainers were Omnium Gatherum with 8.5 points and hockeyislife’s heros who gained seven points during the month. The biggest decliners were Duballstar014 and Wookie Overdrive, who both lost 11 points.
Some of the better pick ups of the month were Tyler Myers (Smack Attack), Chris Stewart (Woodbridge Wild), Jimmy Howard (St. John’s Capitals), Dan Sexton (The Usual Suspects) and Matt Stajan ($_$joos).
There was only one trade in the month of December:
Dec. 3
Hockeyislife’s heros receive L-Perron Stl Smack Attack receives R-Pominville Buf
Pro - Campbell Conference
Swedish sensation Sentium still sits at the summit of the Campbell Conference standings. Fergie’s Leafs had a huge December, gaining 16 points during the month. Unfortunately, for every action, there is an equal an opposite reaction; in this case it’s Zorro who lost 16 points and fell from third to seventh position.
87flyer had an very good month as well, adding 15 points to his bottom line, moving him out of the cellar and into ninth place. A big reason for his hefty point gain can be attributed to three timely free agent pick ups in December. Smoothfun lost 8.5 points and swapped places with 87flyer. Playmaker26 also dropped 8.5 points, while Loki advanced by 7.5 points.
Here were the best free agent pick ups of the month: Stephen Weiss (Chicleteur), Chris Stewart, Dan Sexton and Patric Hornqvist (87flyer), Mark Recchi and Todd Bertuzzi (smoothfun), Mike Knuble (Loki) and Jimmy Howard (metaldude26).
There were no deals during the month of December.

... No kidding STONE.!! I always seem to draft Rivet in these type of pools, but Ian (Experts Audit) really was after him. I suspect it's because he thinks that Rivet will get more PP TOI and PIM than Spacek, now that Montreal has Markov back and Bergeron on PP1. I'm usually pretty risk averse in one year leagues - take the safe route 9.5 times out of 10. In the NHL, it's the little trades that make the difference. It doesn't quite have the same impact in fantasy hockey! |

... Spacek for Rivet might be the most boring trade I've ever seen in Fantasy Hockey. How long did it take to iron out the details on that one? |

Blockbuster Trade Well that trade helped me move up from having 10 points in the goals, assists, ppp, and sog categories (at the last update), to now having 17.5. Although, my goaltending stats dropped by 2 points and my plus/minus dropped 3 points over the same period... Kind of seems like a wash so far haha. |
