In a devestating blow to Jimmy Howard owners, the Wings have signed Ty Conklin to back up Chris Osgood. Here's the lowdown...

Howard was ready to become the backup but will now have to wait a year. Conklin is in the sweet position of being unable to fail. If Osgood gets hurt, Conklin will put up stellar numbers in his steed. I can see that very thing happening and Conklin getting 25 starts in. With those numbers, he can certainly parlay them into a big-time contract next summer.
