Daoust delivers the goods on some cap-friendly PIM deliverers.
Two weeks ago we looked at the underrated value of players who provide a high volume of hits and PIM. The results showed that even players who are not high-level talents at the offensive end of the rink van be very effective overall contributors in the right type of league. Furthermore, the name value of these scrappers is generally inferior to their equally-valuable and offensive-minded counterparts often making them easy to acquire. This week we will look at rugged players who signed cheap contract extensions within the last month. They may be undervalued but are certainly worthy of consideration for acquisition.

Cage Match – Alex Goligoski vs. Roman Josi
This week will feature a matchup that was debated a bit in the DobberHockey forums in a thread I replied to. There were some valid points made on both sides so I felt like a deeper look was warranted. So Goligoski vs. Josi it is.

Brouwer updates us on the most pertinent NHL injuries.
In this weeks edition of Carried Off the Ice there will be updates on the latest injuries during round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. During the playoffs NHL teams are extremely vague when it comes to disclosing injury information, so you will see a lot of undisclosed injuries.

The Evolution of Andrew Cogliano
Not even the Anaheim Ducks would have told you that coming into this season they expected to win the Pacific Division and finish as the second seed in the Western Conference. After a disappointing 2011-12 campaign that saw them sit 13th, expectations for this year would have been mild to say the least. The Ducks, however, boast plenty of talent and 2013 saw Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, and Bobby Ryan bounce back from off years. Although these three and rookie goaltender Viktor Fasth, who burst onto the scene like Julie "The Cat" Gaffney, deserve much of the credit, the Ducks have also done a good job at improving their depth.
