The Fantasy Guide can be picked up online in pdf form for the small price of $9.99. And unlike newsstand magazines - besides being way better - this one will be updated up to October. And that includes the projections.

*

The NHL is prepared to take over the NJ Devils, only a few weeks after finally selling the Coyotes to actual buyers. The Devils have $230 million of debt and their owner (Jeff Vanderbeek) recently missed the first payment on a restructured bank loan.

Here's an idea - maybe don't build a gorgeous new arena in the middle of the ghetto?

*

Nik Antropov and Alexei Ponikarkovsky are both off to the KHL for this season. Two players who never really re-found their games after leaving TO.

*

Zack Kassian is in phenomenal shape and is excited to play for John Tortorella – that and more from a recent interview I did with his summer strength coach, Dave Orton.

*

Drew Shore is putting in some serious hard work this summer – and he will need it, as the Panthers are suddenly kind of deep up the middle after the Gomez signing (mind you, a lot of that is unproven talent like Barkov and Bjugstad).

Saying all of the right things:

“Confidence is such a big thing,” Shore said of his mindset going into next season. “You see some guys who score 30 one year and then score 10 the next and vice versa. The player didn’t get that much better or worse, a lot of it is just their confidence. Coming into this year I feel a lot more confident and I am excited.”

*

Sticking with Florida – here’s a good interview with recent OHL MVP Vincent Trocheck.

“You give him something to do, and boy oh boy, he’s going to do it,” said Skrudland who could hardly contain his excitement when asked about Trocheck. “It’s guys like Vinny that are going to help the (Nick) Bjugstads, that are going to push the (Aleksander) Barkovs, believe it or not … That’s my gut feeling that he’s that type of leader.”

The future is bright in Sunrise, to say the very least. What an impressive collection of young forwards.

I don’t see Horvat making the Canucks this year. There are too many things working against him – age and his contract (compared to Schroeder and Lain, particularly) to name two.

My early guess at Vancouver’s bottom six:

Schroeder centering Booth and Hansen, and Kellan Lain centering Weise and Sestito. I think Brendan Gaunce probably has a better shot at making the team than Horvat.

Send Horvat back to London, let him dominate there and with Canada, and then give him a really long look next fall. That’s what I’d do, at least (assuming he doesn’t completely dominate training camp this year and force his way onto the team).

Joakim Andersson is back in Detroit. I have him pencilled in on line four right now, which means that Abdelkader will very likely stay on the wing. How do these lines look to Detroit fans?

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Alfredsson

Nyquist-Weiss-Franzen

Tatar-Helm-Abdelkader

Miller-Andersson-Eaves/Bertuzzi/Samuelsson

I don’t see Tatar and Nyquist BOTH making the team, but they should. Detroit will probably have at least one more veteran in the mix there somewhere.

Does Carolina prospect Brock McGinn have top-six upside?

*

Why Seattle is the next great hockey town.

A closer look at a prospect I really like – Edmonton’s Toni Rajala.

A look at Winnipeg’s OHL prospects, including Mark Scheifele.

Bo Horvat has some nice toe-drags in this montage:

... Gary Bettman is on record saying the NHL is not going to take on the Devils

Newark has a lot of problems but having the stadium is not one of them. I don't think I would say it is a Ghetto nor would most people who have been there.

Camden is a ghetto.

Move the Devils? @bullwinkle, actually they've sold out quite a number of times over the last couple of years. It's not the number of fans, its the debt used by Vanderbeek to buyout the other ownership. They aren't going anywhere. Jersey boasts some of the richest counties in the US. Someone will step up and buy them.

@Jeff, Newark is a lot better than people think. Downtown actually has two universities (Rutgers and Seton Hall Law) and a performing arts center. Easier access to the games as well as Penn Station is a block away. I live in NYC and it takes me 20 minutes to get to the game. Sometimes faster than getting to MSG. Every city has a ghetto, the prudential center isn't in the middle of one..

Devils owned by nhl Multiple reports saying that Forbes report is not true. There are a few different buyers trying to work out a deal. Vanderbeek wants to remain a minority owner. The Devils also own the arena, so it is more attractive to purchase than other arenas in the NHL as they can add concert and other event revenue to their pocket books.

FrozenPool Fantasy Game Planner Is anyone else not able to get the FrozenPool Fantasy Game Planner to work for the upcoming season's games?
It will show me 2013 season games, but if I insert future dates then it says, "No Scheduled Regular Season Games."

Am I doing something wrong or is this feature not working yet? Thank you.

Move the Devils! Why not move the Devils to Quebec? I wouldn't mind and the 500 fans they have over there would probably not even notice.

... my biggest issue with the last NHL game was the turning. I can turn tighter/faster on skates than players in the most recent game could.

Detroit lines. Please please please let Nyqist be top 6. That decision is holding me back from him being a keeper at present moment haha (stupid ESPN no farm team)

... jacques - good call. I would definitely think Shore/Bjugstad/Barkov should play over Gomez.

kidd - I always buy the NHL games - some are good, some are so-so. Last year was really good. The key is to find good sliders online to get the gameplay to a more realistic level (turning down speed, shot accuracy, and so on).

Rollie - Richardson is in the mix too. I think Schroeder has more upside/ability, but it will probably come down to them. I HOPE Jensen makes the team but I'm not sure he will. I don't think Sestito is an every day player - you are right on that they probably won't play very often together. Lots of potential combos in the bottom six.

Heck, Santorelli could even slide in with Booth and Hansen, as he and Booth have some chemistry.

... As someone who watches a lot of Habs and Sharks games I can tell you that Florida signing Gomez does not make them any deeper at center.

Canucks.... Um what about Richardson? He has to be bottom 6 somewhere. You dont see Jensen or Santorelli making the team either? And no chance of Raymond returning? not sure why he hasnt been snapped up yet, some untapped potential there. Personally I cant see Weise and Sestito in the lineup together (one scratched most nites) and I dont see Lain making the team, but likely one of the first callups.

... Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) BOTH Nyquist and Tatar WILL make the team. They have to, neither one would pass waivers, and would now have to. With the new rules Kenny will have to beg steal and crawl to other GM's to find a taker for Bert or Sammy. They can bury Emmerton in the minors if they have to. Sammy was such a poor signing, he'll be a tougher sell than a plate of vegetables on the set of the View.
