Update on Jeffrey - he'll be seeing more action than intiially thought. Mark Letestu apparently injured his knee in practice this morning. Suddenly, Jeffrey is the second-line center playing with Kunitz. A definite must-see.

Dustin Jeffrey has been recalled by the Pens.

Because the Blues have the next two days off, Andy McDonald will not return tonight, but rather Friday, thereby giving him that little extra time.

What Toni Lydman is doing in Anaheim is impressive. His career high is 28 points and it looks as though he will beat that. Plus, his plus-24 looks amazing when sitting next to the next best Duck Visnovsky (plus-7). He'll also top 100 shots for the first time in seven years. It's good to get out of Buffalo, eh Toni?

Lee Stempniak is riding a seven-game point streak, with 11 in that span including five goals. He's shooting the puck a lot too, and should beat his career high of 212 shots this season.

The Tennessean has discovered that Steve Sullivan's LBI is in fact a groin injury. At his age, yes this will dog him for the season.

Evgeni Malkin will not play in the next game but is traveling with the team so he shouldn't be too much longer.

Justin Williams has 14 points in 25 games after posting 25 in the first 25. Probably not used to playing so many games...

If you're interested, I have a list of the youngsters recalled yesterday (in most cases, they are just called back up after the break):
Dan Sexton, ANA
Nick Leddy, CHI
Matt Calvert, CBJ
Aaron Gagnon, DAL
Chris Mueller, Matt Halischuk, NSH
Mark Fraser, Vladimir Zharkov, Nick Palmieri, Mattias Tedenby, NJ
Ty Wishart, Dylan Reese, Kevin Poulin, NYI
Evgeny Grachev, Kris Newbury, Michael Del Zotto, NYR
Robin Lehner, Colin Greening, OTT
Mikkel Boedker, Andrew Ebbett, PHO
Nikita Nikitin, Phil Mcrae, STL
Cody Hodgson, VAN
Mathieu Perreault, WAS

In the case of Wishart, he'll be making his NYI debut. And in the case of Hodgson he'll be making his NHL debut. I'm also interested in seeing how Matt Calvert continues to progress as a pro.

I didn't catch this last week, but the BAB David Jones has suffered a shoulder injury and is out indefinitely.

Jordin Tootoo, who has been in drug rehab, is now cleared to resume practice with the Preds.

Jamie Benn will miss at least the next week with his shoulder injury.

Mike Cammalleri is still not practicing with the Habs. Lines in practice: Pacioretty-Plekanec-Gionta |  Kostitsyn-Gomez-Eller | Pouliot-Desharnais-Darche | Moen-Halpern-Pyatt

Marty Turco gets the start against the Jackets Tuesday.

Alexander Semin is expected to return to the lineup by the weekend. He is back skating.

Shawn Matthias has broken his ankle pretty badly. The word is - out until late March. He had been playing, by many accounts, the best hockey of his career in the three or four games leading up to the injury.

... Do I drop Holtby now? Is Neuvirth better? If he is: Does Holtby have a chance of taking his spot on the big squad? If not: Does Holty have a chance of splitting starts with Varly, or will he be strictly back-up.

Jeffrey FINALLY!

it only took injuries to 3 of the 4 centres for Bylsma to give Jeffrey a chance on one of the scoring lines. Unbelievable. I don't understand what Bylsma has against this kid. While he coached in WBS, Jeffrey was nothing more than a grinding centre. Bylsma goes to the Big Penguins and Jeffrey shifts to LW and rips up the AHL.

Again, this year Bylsma refuses to play him at W with Crosby/Maklin during training camp and has him centre the 4th line with Adams/Asham/Godard/Rupp. what happens, sent down. What happens next? well Jeffrey leads WBS in scoring and is among the top 10 AHL scorers for most of the season.

I can't wait to see what happens over the next few games while Jeffrey actually is allowed to try and score. GO JEFFREY GO!

*NOTE* I am NOT related to Jeffrey. smilies/cheesy.gif

... Semin is possibility tonight. Sounds like it is up to him according to Gabby. Take what you feel to be his dedication and desire into consideration before activating.

And Darcy, I agree w/you. Had the same reaction when I read the word "drug". Just "rehab" would have sufficed. Or "Substance Abuse Program". My $.02.

... Thanks for the clarification (it was my guess). I just felt that saying "drugs" was a bit misleading and irresponsible. I'm a big Tootoo fan and can't imagine what it would be like to grow up in a far northern community then leave at a young age on your own to play hockey and combine that with the loss of a brother.

re: Tootoo Hey Darcy -for what its worth....Tootoo was in for alcohol issues. He's had problems with the bottle ever since his brother's suicide. I'm sure all of us hockey fans are glad to hear he sought help and he's ready to lace em up again soon.....

@Darcy WTF you think substance abuse means? No matter if it is alcohol, smoking, crack, addicted to coca cola, they are all forms of drugs so if the dobbs doesn't go into detail, relax and don't get your panties in a knot!

Re: Tootoo Can you please confirm that it is drugs, Dobber? Media is saying "Substance Abuse Program", so I hope you have your facts straight.

Tony Lydman Lydman has also been absolutely MONEY in my keeper pool (which counts blocked shots), as he is 3rd place in the entire NHL in this category with 124 blocks to date!
