Jeremy Rutherford is reporting that Chris Stewart will be scratched for Matt D'Agostini.

Ken Hitchcock swapped centers on his first two lines in practice – David Backes was between McDonald and Steen, while Patrik Berglund was between Perron and Oshie.

Brandon Dubinsky has a lower body injury and was seen with crutches. Rangers are mum on his status. Brian Boyle is skating, but probably won't play next game. Maybe the following game.

Men’s World Hockey Championship (not Championships) final rosters have been announced. You can find them here. I found it interesting to see that Marcus Granlund is not on the roster, perhaps someone from Finland can enlighten me as there were several “lesser” names who did make the team. Perhaps the younger Granlund is hurt?

Couldn’t believe my eyes after the first period of the Philly game and how they were having difficulty getting shots on Brodeur, given the way they manhandled the Penguins. But then the real Flyers showed up.

Interesting to see Brayden Schenn’s ice time dip below 10 minutes. He was a minus-1, whereas Eric Wellwood continues to fill a defensive niche and thus saw more ice time.

James van Riemsdyk picked up his first point since February 21, scoring a goal and going plus-3.

Ilya Bryzgalov posted an .885 save percentage. He’s been winning games with that kind of number, so why stop now? We can start referring to him as a modern day Grant Fuhr.

Ilya Kovalchuk is minus-5 in the postseason. He saw his lowest ice time since the playoffs started. Despite overtime.

Antoine Vermette has had a fantastic postseason. Two more last night gives him eight points in eight playoff games.

Whatever injury was ailing Radim Vrbata, he’s okay now. Three points in two games.

The Coyotes have done a great job of nullifying Alexander Radulov. He is a minus-3 in the two games and has just one assist. See the clip below for some ineptness on his part. Next game Nashville can match lines, so my money is on him picking it up again.

It’s really strange to see the Coyotes out-gun the Predators. We know they can stifle teams, but we figured they would have trouble stopping the depth that Nashville boasts – and we were right. But Phoenix has outscored them. Rinne’s been less than stellar, and Vermette has emerged as a secondary threat to the Ray Whitney line.

Craig Smith was among Nashville’s scratches. I thought he was great in Game 1, with an assist and a near goal – a great asset to come over the boards for the fourth line. So scratching him was a weird call, but yes Colin Wilson needs to get in. Wilson got the big nine minutes.

For all the line combos of yesterday’s games, as always you can see them here.

Nathan Gerbe is currently receiving treatment for a back injury that will cause him to miss the World Championship.

The more I read about Alex Pietrangelo, the more certain I am that he’s going to miss a couple of games, much like Alfredsson did in Round 1.

It seems as though concussions aren’t as bad or as dangerous in the playoffs… either that or players miraculously heal more quickly from them in April and May. It’s looking like Brian Boyle will be back very soon.

My THN column later today is about Chris Kreider. Should see it around 2pm.

Alexander Semin is pointless and minus-4 in his last three games. He had 10 points in nine games to end the season, but this playoff performance could cost him millions. Contract is up in the summer.

Still awaiting his first playoff game – Adam Larsson.

Thanks for being patient with the site changes. We’re still fixing little things, chipping away. Later today or possibly tomorrow the new shop will be up and at that point I will start selling the Prospects Report and the Keeper League pack. I’ll announce here when it’s ready.

Caught this on TSN2 the other day, and saw it was up on youtube, thought I’d share – top bloopers of the season:

Radulov gets ripped and rightfully so:

... Radulov is like Semin or Kovalev it seems. Inconsistent effort. He needs time & space to be effective. Talk of 80 pts for him seems wildly premature. Overrated.

Markus Granlund I think it has more to do with the fact that Markus Granlund is still more of a prospect and the Finnish coaching staff prefers to use more seasoned players. The constant demand for medals with a less talented team means they are not taking any chances with players. Take note that Mikael Granlund didn't make the team until 2011 and Teemu Pulkkinen has never played in the WC.

Coyotes It is not strange to see the Coyotes out-gun the Predators. Other than one shut-out by Rinne (on the day he signed his LT deal), the Coyotes have scored 3+ goals on Rinne every game this year (including 4+ goals 4 times).
