Did another update of the Fantasy Guide and draft list last night. The draft list has updated notes now. That's either the second last update, or I'll do two more. Finishing up Saturday morning. Any weekend drafts will have the updated goods! A reminder - the "forgot password" token is broken. If you forgot your password, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Lots of cuts today. Here are the notables (some have to go through waivers):

BUF: Porter

CGY: Irving, Byron, Carson, Karlsson (Karlsson and Irving on waivers, but will still compete for spot with each other)

CAR: Nodl

CHI: J.Hayes, Pirri, Stanton

COL: Elliott, Sgarbossa

CBJ: Erixon, Jenner

FLA: Santorelli

MIN: Kampfer, Palmieri, Dowell, Veilleux

MTL: Blunden

NJ: Frazee

NYI: Strome, Reinhart

STL: Chorney

TB: Taormina, Wyman, Johnson

TOR: Connolly (!), Aucoin (picked up by NYI off waivers)

VAN: Joslin

So far Matt Dumba still around. Ditto Morgan Rielly. Ditto Rickard Rakell

Travis Zajac signed for what? Good thing there was a lockout…

Hey, if Zajac gets maximum term and  at $5.75 - what must be close to 75% of a player's maximum annual salary… does that mean Jamie Benn gets eight years at the maximum per year?

*

Richard Clune, plucked off waivers from the Kings by the Preds, they see as a nice Tootoo replacement. If you need a player who specializes in PIM, he could be a dark horse there.

*

Brad Richards has recovered enough from the flu to get started in training camp. Now we can see the line combos as they were meant to be.

*

Here is my fantasy hockey mailbag over at The Hockey News. Later today I will have an article posted there on fantasy's Top 10 rookies.

Also today, a Puck Daddy piece.

*

Dallas has cut Brett Ritchie and Radek Faksa.

*

Players who were injured while playing overseas are 'suspended' by their teams. I guess that's what insurance is for. Anyway, the Isles suspended Josh Bailey and Jesse Joensuu. And with the claim of Thomas Hickey, the Isles cut Ty Wishart.

*

Florida rearguard Dmitri Kulikov is not close to signing a contract, and he remains in the KHL. The door is open for Colby Robak.

*

Ottawa has cut Stefan Noesen.

The Flyers cut Andreas Lilja - if Meszaros is ready to play this weekend, Lilja will be sent down.

*

Calgary news - Jarome Iginla is back on the ice after being sidelined with a groin injury. Mikael Backlund is having a strong camp and really making a play on that second-line center job that's wide open thanks to Roman Cervenka being held out with a blood clot.

*

Cam Atkinson missed practice Wednesday with a "minor lower body issue". The Jackets don't seem too concerned, but we'll know more in time. Now wouldn't that just throw off all the "sleeper" talk in a hurry? Too bad I committed all three of my keeper teams to him. All I ask? Give me 45 games Cam. If I'm wrong, I'd rather be wrong that way then be wrong because of injury.

*

Emerson Etem and Patrick Maroon were among the cuts by Anaheim Wednesday night.

*

Today's Anze Kopitar update - still not cleared for contact, but he is skating and experiencing no ill effects from his skating.

*

Good move by the Blues to extend GM Doug Armstrong for five years. He's patiently rebuilt a winner and St. Louis fans were patient with it.

*

Colorado has cut Stefan Elliott and Michael Sgarbossa. Still there - Tyson Barrie. Rough season for Elliott, a former 'can't miss' prospect. It's only been four bad months though, I'm certainly not ready to write him off.

*

Toronto has found a taker for Matt Lombardi. No surprise that it's Lombardi's former team the Coyotes. His arrival hurts Martin Hanzal, because I'm sure they'll want to try Lombardi out on the second line. Lombardi had his best season in Phoenix (53 points) and this certainly puts him on the fantasy map. The move doesn't help anyone in Toronto - things were crowded up front there, so Lombardi would have been in tough just to get into the lineup every night. The Leafs get a conditional fourth rounder for him.

*

Sam Carchidi, Philly beatwriter, says that Scott Laughton "looks like a lock" to make the opening day roster for the Flyers. No way he plays six games though, in my opinion. Laughton is too raw. He's no Sean Couturier from a year ago. At this point he is centering Matt Read and Wayne Simmonds, two very hard workers, which bodes well. But…I just don't see it. I saw him play in Oshawa a couple of times this year. He has 33 points in 32 games for the Generals.

*

In a scrimmage game, both Beau Bennett and Eric Tangradi saw time with Malkin and Neal. Bennett scored in the 6-5 win while Tangradi did not. For what it's worth.

*

Pierre-Marc Bouchard is looking pretty good here. This is yesterday:

Kulikov TSN reports 2yr deal for KulikovTSN. That's huge for both The Panthers and KulikovTSN as I believe this is big year for him.

... Strome not even getting a look is very disappointing. Nino not even being invited to camp is even more disappointing. Bailey missing a month will further hinder whatever momentum he had late last season. Visnovsky's hemming and hawing does not bode well for if and when he does show up to play. This is shaping up to be another brutal season on the Island.

Lombardi Trade @RollingwinS.. I think was @Kudelskis Krushers is trying to say is that it should perhaps be worded as a conditional 3rd round draft pick, whereby if that condition(Lombardi signing with Phoenix) is not met, then it becomes a 4th; rather than the other way around.

Grammatically this would seem to be the correct way to go about labeling it, for what its worth lol.

... Hey Dobber, great job everyone during the lockout - made the unbearable a little more bearable. Questionin whether or not Connolly might be worth a shot for Calgary - not sure they should jump on him while he is on waivers but if Toronto would eat some salary on a trade could he be a better fit for Iginla than Tanguay?

Not signed yet So why is there all the talk about PK Subban not being signed and no talk about Benn? Is it just the Montreal market over-pursuing the information? Is Benn close? I drafted him high in my league, as a starter. Guys, I need this (Hockey Falls - Date Night).

... @Kudelskis Krushers - The pick is a 2014 4th rounder but if Lombardi re-signs in Phoenix it becomes a 3rd rounder.

Lombardi Trade What is the protocol with referring to conditional picks? "Conditional fourth" makes it sound like Toronto only gets the fourth if certain conditions are met, whereas I think that the fourth is guaranteed but it could become a third if the conditions are met. Seems odd to me (the phrasing).

Bouchard Depends on your league setup, obviously, but Bouchard fell way down in the default rankings for ESPN - something like TWO THOUSANDTH over all - which always affect the managers of my league more than it ought to. Worth a flyer as the last pick of a deep league, especially considering possible line-mates.
