Injuries are a part of fantasy hockey and no one wants to spend time surfing the web for the latest on their injured player. Here is a rapid-fire injury update.
Carl Soderberg (ankle) skated today at optional skate and will practice tomorrow with the team, not quite ready. Bruins are considering an AHL conditioning assignment.
Ville Leino (rib) has a cracked rib and is out indefinitely.
Tim Gleason (concussion) remains out indefinitely with a concussion.
Tuomo Ruutu (lower body) is traveling with the team and getting close to return, but still needs some more practice time. He skated in a regular practice jersey on Tuesday.
Tim Thomas (groin) was on the ice today, but Panthers coach says he’s highly doubtful for home opener on Friday.
George Parros (concussion) is almost ‘symptom-free’ from the concussion he suffered in his fight with Colton Orr.
Ryane Clowe (foot) had x-rays on his foot today and they were negative. Just dealing with swelling. He is questionable for next game.
Cal Clutterbuck (leg) has been activated off of IR and could make Islanders debut on Friday.
Rick Nash (head) was sent home and will miss at minimum the next two games.
Jason Spezza (groin) sat out of Wednesday night’s game to rest a groin injury; hopefully it’s a precautionary move.
Kris Letang (lower body) did travel with the team and is getting close to return to action, however Penguins coach wants to see more progression in practice before Letang will suit up for a game.
James Neal (upper body) isn’t traveling with the Penguins to Florida so he is definitely out this weekend. He is still considered week-to-week. Rumors are swilling around the Internet that he got hurt playing whiffle-ball at a Penguins practice, check out the video below.
Nikolai Kulemin (ankle) was placed on long term IR today, meaning the earliest he can return is October 29.
Joffrey Lupul (knee)
Matt Beleskey (thumb) has a broken thumb. He is out for a week or more, but the good news is no surgery required.
Emerson Etem (lower body) will make his season debut tonight after missing the first three games with a lower body injury.
Kyle Palmieri (upper body) was on the ice today and says injury is not similar to last season when he had a concussion. Palmieri won’t play tonight but might be ready to go on Sunday.
Luca Sbisa (ankle) is likely another week or two away from getting back into line-up.
Michael Cammalleri (hand) is still dealing with a hand injury, which has kept him from playing a game this season including Wednesday’s game. No other details available.
David Jones (upper body) was placed on the IR today and will likely miss a couple of weeks. Francis Bouillon hit him hard in the third period of Wednesday’s game.
Matt Stajan (leg) is now considered week-to-week with a deep leg contusion.
Ryan Wilson (knee) could be back in action this weekend. He is playing with Jan Hejda in practice and looks to be at full strength.
Corey Potter (back) is getting closer to return as he has skated in each of the past three days. Potter has been out since training camp due to a back problem.
Niklas Backstrom (knee) is listed as day-to-day with a knee strain and Darcy Kuemper will serve as Josh Harding’s backup.
Charlie Coyle (knee) is expected to be out three to four weeks with knee sprain.
Roman Josi (concussion) has been out since Friday with a concussion. A Swiss newspaper is reporting that this is Josi’s fifth concussion since 2009. That is not good news for Josi owners.
Viktor Stalberg (shoulder) was on the ice this morning and looked pretty good. Predators continue to say he is recovering ahead of schedule. Predator’s coach says there is a good chance Stalberg could be back on Saturday.
Rostislav Klesla (concussion) made his season debut tonight against the Red Wings.
Alexandre Burrows (foot) is out at least two weeks after blocking a shot.
Nicklas Jensen (upper body) is still out another two to three weeks. He is with the Canucks AHL team rehabbing.
