Fantasy Impact: The Vancouver Canucksj have traded goaltender Corey Schneider to the New Jersey Devils for the ninth overall pick - which they used to select Bo Horvat.

The Canucks get: a pick that I thought would be used on future superstar forward Nichushkin, but instead was used on underrated two-way forward Bo Horvat.

The Devils get: their starter for the next 10 years. Mark this down, but Schneider will have a Hall of Fame career. Exaggerating? A little, but Schneider will be leaned on for 70 games per year and under the NJ traditional system (which they will stick with until Lou Lamiorello retires - and probably beyond) he will be a top NHL goalie to own. With Marty Brodeur there for another season, he'll be eased in. Look for 50 games this year. But afterwards - look out.

Fantasy Players Impacted: In the short term, had the Canucks traded Roberto Luongo, than Schneider would have won 38 games or more. In New Jersey, that might be closer to 34. But in the long term, I like the Schneider own.

Luongo, meanwhile, becomes that 38-game winner. Congrats Luongo owners!

Martin Brodeur gets hurt too often to be counted on for 30 wins but at least as a starter he could be traded a month in. Now Brodeur owners no longer have that luxury. As a Brodeur owner in one keeper league, I've accepted that his value went from low to zero. Grudgingly.

Fantasy Players this helps, in order:

1. Luongo

2. Eddie Lack

3. Schneider (long term)

Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:

1. Brodeur

2. Schneider (short term)

Gillis drives me nuts! Trading a star goalie is bad enough, but for only the 9th pic? I cant believe that Philly with the #11 pic wouldnt have thrown in something else to sweeten the pot, even if it was something else that Gillis wouldve had to move due to salary. And how good would Philly/Holmgren look if he was able to land Schneider? even if it cost him a 1st and 2nd this year. ugh.
